Back in April 2005, my daughter was able to capture a really wonderful afternoon scene at the Ardent Hot Springs in Camiguin Island. It was during a youth summer camp and my whole family was there too. As I was busy inside the cottage where we stayed, my daughter suddenly rushed in from the outside asking quickly for my camera. So I gave it to her. What came out was a really wonderful scenic view. Nope, there were no photographic gadgets used. It was just a simple point-and-shoot 3.1 megapixel Mercury digital camera—an unheard of camera brand. She took a really good shot!
Great Photo Using Simple Digital Camera
What produced the effect was the smoke produced by the burning leaves gathered by the resort personnel of Ardent Hot Springs as they cleaned up the surroundings. A great photo out of a simple digital camera!
And of course, the eye of an artist made the difference. Anybody can shoot. My daughter is an art lover and an art teacher. The simple camera was just a tool. God created a beautiful and wonderful world and we’re all blessed to live in it, enjoy it and delight on it.
“People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’ And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.” (Mark 10:13-16)
I happened to visit my hometown a month or so ago and one lazy afternoon in our backyard, I noticed a dove which kept on watching from a neighbor’s rooftop. It was interested in the dog food which was near me. I had that good opportunity to take shots of it from nearby. By the way, I noticed that this dove happened to have only one leg (not obvious in photo). During that same afternoon, I also took a shot of a sleepy kitten which I thought was a bit amusing. Jesus said, “The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want.” (NIV Mark 14:7a). Such is this world’s condition since the Fall of Adam. There is unequal distribution of wealth, some are rich and some are poor. The Lord will set things right in his own good time. In the meantime, we are encouraged to help the poor, the widows and the fatherless — those who are needy if we can.
These young Aetas, come to the city during Christmas time to beg for alms. It is always heart-breaking to see the poor in their poverty. In this photo, the two boys smiled not expecting that I had a camera focused on them as they approached me. It surprised them I guess. The other boy was kind of shy and hid behind the boy in front of him.
I’ve been trying to learn how to take good and professional-looking portraits and I’m excited to learn more especially about taking headshots. In this photo is my lovely niece. It was a really hot summer day and my niece who is from overseas was really perspiring a lot. I was glad she did give a great smile for the camera despite the really warm weather. I’m interested in portrait photography and I hope to learn more about it. I guess I have varied interests. I love to take photos of nature too. And people in action doing things that they normally do everyday.
